Palm Springs Aerial Tramway Reopens Monday, Oct. 5 as Annul Preventative Maintenance Concludes
PALM SPRINGS — Just in time to celebrate the arrival of autumn with a brisk walk and that familiar sound of fallen leaves crunching under your feet, the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway will reopen on Monday, Oct. 5, following its annual preventative maintenance closure.
The first tram up will be at 10 a.m., the last tram up will be at 8 p.m. and the last tram down will be at 9:30 p.m. Tramcars depart at least every 30 minutes.
During the 2026 closure, several projects were successfully completed, including rebuilding the carriage on cabin two, repainting cabin interiors, and conducting annual state-permit testing and service to the controls system.
“We appreciate our guests’ patience and understanding as our Tramway Systems and Facilities Departments worked to complete all necessary projects,” said General Manager Nancy Nichols. “We look forward to welcoming new and returning visitors back to the Tramway and eagerly anticipate the upcoming holiday and event season.”
The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is great for hikers and cross-country skiers, and first-time visitors to the area.
- What you need to know: Dress in layers—the temperatures at the Mountain Station are usually 30 to 40 degrees cooler than on the valley floor.
