Assembly District 47 candidates Christy Holstege and Greg Wallis have confirmed they will participate in a virtual candidate gathering titled “Housing Affordability in the Coachella Valley: A Candidate’s Forum” on Oct. 12 from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.
Lift to Rise and Southern California Association of Nonprofit Housing is hosting the forum.
The virtual forum will be moderated by Kamari Esquerra of NBC Palm Springs. Candidates will be asked to speak about their plans for addressing the housing affordability crisis in the Coachella Valley, one of the most salient issues among voters in the upcoming election.
Members of the Coachella Valley community, affordable housing advocates and practitioners, and anyone interested in the AD-47 race are welcome to attend. Forum attendees will be given the opportunity to ask the candidates questions after the moderated portion.
Democrat Holstege, a Palm Springs city councilmember, and Republican Greg Wallis, the district director for Assemblymember Chad Mayes, I-Rancho Mirage — emerged as the top contenders in the June Primary.
Assembly District 47, which was formed through California’s redistricting process in 2021, includes Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Desert Hot Springs, La Quinta, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, and Indian Wells, and extends into Yucaipa and Yucca Valley in San Bernardino County.
