Boys & Girls Clubs of Coachella Valley to partner for Manilow’s A Gift of Love VI for Five Evenings in December.

Once again, Barry Manilow and Boys & Girls Clubs of Coachella Valley have partnered for Manilow’s A Gift of Love VI for five evenings in December.  Held at the McCallum Theatre, 25 local nonprofits will benefit from the fundraising concerts.

Last time, Quinton Egson, President and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Coachella Valley was one of a handful of nonprofit representatives who received the honor of meeting Mr. Manilow backstage before eventually joining him center stage.

During their private meeting, Egson had the opportunity to tell Manilow heartwarming stories about the kids who participate in BGCCV’s afterschool programs at four club locations in Indio, La Quinta, Coachella, and Mecca, as well as amazing anecdotes of alumni who went on to college and from there to become successful adults in their field of choice.

Manilow kept saying to Egson, “When I have you on stage tonight, you need to share that.”  Egson jokingly asked Manilow how much time did he have to talk about his nonprofit as Manilow was truly interested in all the good things BGCCV offers the youth and their families.  They ended up spending 3-5 minutes on stage in front of a sold-out audience talking about BGCCV.

Manilow’s A Gift of Love VI will feature hit songs and holiday favorites.  Past holiday concerts have surprised audiences with a children’s choir, Santa Claus, and even snow.

“Barry Manilow is a person with a big heart that makes this world a better place; we can all take a page out of his book regarding giving back,” said Egson.  “When people work to make a difference for the betterment of others, we all benefit.”

The five concerts will take place December 12-17.
