PALM SPRINGS —  Bethany Owen, actress, comedienne, voice impressionist, and singer-dancer  will be at the Palm Springs Public Library for the Summer Reading Finale celebration.

The highly anticipated event will be held  on Thursday, July 18, at 4:30 p.m. at the main library. Registrations for this year’s Summer Reading Program have broken all previous records.

To celebrate the six-week summer reading program, “It’s Showtime at Your Library,” participants are encouraged to start arriving at 4 p.m. Dress as your favorite celebrity. Joan Rivers aka Bethany Owen will greet you as you enter on the red carpet.

There will be a ‘Hollywood’ and ‘Rock Star’ selfie-station for you to strike a pose and do your best impersonation. Then at 4:30 p.m. city dignitaries, members of the Sustainability Commission and Friends of the Library will join attend to draw the grand prize winners. Following the awarding of all the prizes. Bethany Owen as ‘Judy Garland’ will sing her rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”

There will be cookies courtesy of Sherman’s Deli and other giveaways while supplies last.

Bethany Owen’s career has taken her to every platform in the industry including such areas as live stage, television and film work from L.A., Las Vegas, Miami and New York to international destinations like Caribbean resorts, India, Germany, the Philippines and Aruba.

A few of Bethany Owen’s performance highlights in the past few years have included a 13,000-mile national show tour of casino showrooms and historic FOX theaters in 2009; a 20-month performance schedule which began on Mothers Day, May 9th, 2010 and ended in December 2011 at the Horizon Casino in Lake Tahoe.

In 2012, Bethany Owen brought a four-month performance schedule to the Las Vegas Rio Casino Resort and 2013 kicked off with a 30-day show run in Berlin, Germany.

Owen is a consecutive two-time international winner in Las Vegas for “Best Female Voice Impressionist,” an award never given twice to the same person two years in a row.

During the past year, Bethany Owen has been headlining her one-woman show in major entertainment cities and venues for weekly and monthly resident run contract tours in Palm Springs, Las Vegas, Laughlin, Albuquerque, Phoenix and Lake Tahoe.

Owen has also been working in Los Angeles a voice recording studios on projects for companies like IGT Gaming where Owen mimicked the voice of legendary actress Audrey Hepburn for the new IGT themed slot machine titled “Breakfast At Tiffany’s” modeled after the movie.

Summer reading participants were able to earn weekly entry tickets and place them in the bin of the grand prize they wanted to try to win. There are 15 different prizes to choose from including four bicycles (with helmets) courtesy of the Palm Springs Sustainability Commission as well as a Fire HD Tablet, a Nintendo Switch Gaming Console, an Avengers Inventor kit, Ring doorbell, and many other choices all courtesy of the Friends of the Palm Springs Library. One winner will be selected for each prize from the entry tickets in that bin.
