Coachella Selects Regional Mexican Artist Carín León Recipient of Key to City

COACHELLA – Regional Mexican superstar Carín León is set to take the stage at both the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and Stagecoach Festivals these coming weekends, but on his way into the Coachella Valley, he will be making a special detour to the city of Coachella.

On Saturday, April 20th, Coachella will formally present León with keys to the city. The community is welcome to gather at the Coachella Library on Seventh Street at 10:30 a.m. to enjoy live music by Banda Reyna Del Valle, culminating with the Key to the City Ceremony with the Mayor and City Council at approximately noon.

The city has complimentary light refreshments planned from 10:30 a.m. to noon and will provide guests with a keepsake to commemorate the special day (while supplies last).

Leading up to the April 20th event, six VIP experiences will be raffled off through Noticias Telemundo 15 and La Poderosa 96.7 FM, which will provide a personal meet and greet with Carín León for each winner plus a guest prior to the Key to the City ceremony. Winners will be notified Friday, April 19th by a city official.

“Several years ago, we began featuring curated art from the Festival in our City, and now, we are honored to welcome renowned musical talent to Coachella. We have created up close and personal experiences in our own community, at no cost to our residents, and this VIP concept will take it to an entirely new level,” Mayor Steven Hernandez said in a statement.

To win, participants must watch Telemundo 15 LIVE at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. or tune into La Poderosa 96.7FM for details on how to win a Meet & Greet with León.  Information about the Key to the City event can be found on the City of Coachella’s Facebook and Instagram pages, as well as on Coachella.org.
