Celebrate Juneteenth Freedom Weekend 2025, June 19–21

PALM SPRINGS — The Palm Springs community is encouraged to participate in a series of events, June 19-21, to commemorate Juneteenth National Independence Day, or Freedom Weekend, a time to reflect, rejoice, and come together in unity and celebration.

Juneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States. It is celebrated annually on June 19 to commemorate the ending of slavery in the United States.

VillageFest – Juneteenth Kick-Off
WHERE: VillageFest, Downtown Palm Springs, Tahquitz Canyon Way and Palm Canyon Drive
WHEN: Thursday, June 19, 7:00 – 10:00 p.m.
Celebrate the official Juneteenth holiday with an evening of joy! Enjoy music from a live DJ, delicious cupcakes, engaging arts & crafts, and educational booths with information on the history and significance of Juneteenth.

Annual Kings & Queens Pageant: 30+ Year Tradition – Kings & Queens Pageant

Join city leaders for a cherished tradition that has uplifted our youth and honored excellence in our community for over three decades. Celebrate the crowning of our 2025 Kings and Queens in a heartwarming evening of pride and pageantry.

Concert in the Park

WHEN: Friday, June 20 7:00 p.m.
Unwind after the pageant with a soulful night under the stars featuring a Tribute to Kool & the Gang in the heart of downtown.

Unity Picnic
WHERE: Downtown Park, Museum Way and Belardo Road
WHEN: Saturday, June 21, 5:00 p.m.
Close out the weekend with the big Freedom Celebration! Enjoy food vendors, live entertainment, games, arts & crafts, children’s rides, and so much more. This day-long festival is all about fun, culture, and community togetherness.
