SAN FRANCISCO —The Palm Valley School Chamber Singers traveled to San Francisco over the weekend where they earned superior marks for their performance in San Francisco’s Heritage Festival of Gold hosted by WorldStrides.

The Chamber Singers is comprised of both middle and high School students.

The Palm Valley School Chamber Singers, under the direction of Paul Kay, spent the weekend working closely with world-renowned clinicians and adjudicators.

Anton Armstrong, who is the longest serving conductor in history of the St. Olaf Choir, and Dr. Craig Jessop who was previously the conductor of the U.S Air Force Singing Sergeants and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, coached the Chamber Singers.

The Palm Valley School Chamber Singers performed three selections on stage at San Francisco’s Davies Symphony Concert Hall. The performance was scored by three adjudicators on tone, balance, blend, diction, interpretation, rhythm, intonation, general effect, and music. The students received superior ratings on each selection they performed. T

The Chamber singers were also chosen to sing in the Festival Honor Choir and later performed in the evening Encore Concert all held in the Davies Symphony Hall. The Louise M. Davies Symphony Hall is the permanent home of the San Francisco Symphony and has 2,743 seats. The Hall is “dedicated to the joy of music.”

The Festival of Gold is four experiences in one: a festival performance; in-depth, hour-long clinics with acclaimed clinicians; an encore concert featuring all festival ensembles; honor choir, honor band, and honor orchestra distinctions. Ensembles are accepted by achieving a Gold/Superior rating at a recent or previous Heritage Festival, a recent state contest, or by audition.
