Chick-Fil-A will be located at the intersection of 73070 Dinah Shore

PALM DESERT — Chick-fil-A, just named America’s favorite restaurant for the eighth year, according to the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), is coming to the Coachella Valley later this month.

The ACSI released its annual restaurant survey for the 2021-2022 year on Tuesday.

Even though fast food declined in popularity this year, Chick-fil-A maintained its score of 83, the highest score in the ACSI restaurant survey. Since 1964, Chick-fil-A has been the home of the Original Chicken Sandwich with two pickles on a toasted butter bun.

The Palm Desert location will open for business on Thursday, July 14, the company announced.

The restaurant will be located at the intersection of 73070 Dinah Shore, just off the Interstate 10 exit on Monterey Avenue.

It is part of the new Monterey Crossing, a 17-acre mixed-use commercial development currently under construction.

Other tenants planned at the site include Jersey Mike’s Subs, The Habit Burger Grill and a Quick Quack Car Wash with several spots still to be filled, according to the website for the Fountainhead Development firm behind the project.

Chick-Fil-A Palm Desert will be open Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. It is well-known for being closed on Sundays.

This will be the Coachella Valley’s first Chick-Fil-A restaurant. Until now, the closest restaurant is the one located in Yucaipa.

The company’s opposition to same-sex marriage has been the subject of public controversy, though the company has begun loosening its stance on this issue.

Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A has more than 2,600 restaurants in 47 states, Washington, D.C., and Canada,

National tenants located at the intersection of Monterey Avenue and Interstate 10 include Costco, Home Depot, Kohl’s, Sam’s Club, Walmart, 99 Cents Only, Ashley HomeStore, JOANN Fabrics and Crafts, PetSmart and Regal Cinemas.

Palm Desert is the geographic center of the Coachella Valley, a fast-growing region of Southern California. Within a three-mile radius of Monterey Crossing, the population increased by 53% between 2000 and 2020 and is projected to grow an additional 7.4% by 2025. The average household income is currently $106,000. There are more than 4,500 new residential units planned or under construction within a 2.5-mile radius of Monterey Crossing.
