Cathedral City Councilmember Christina Gordon Seeks District 3 City Council Seat

CATHEDRAL CITY – Cathedral City Councilmember Christina Gordon has announced that she is running for a four-year term on the City Council in District 3. Gordon was unanimously appointed in January to fill the vacancy created by the death of Councilmember Mark Carnevale.

“I’m excited to announce my candidacy to continue serving Cathedral City,” Gordon said in a news release. “Serving on the city council has been an honor and a privilege and I’m committed to continuing that work, focusing on a city government that serves the residents in District 3 and looks ahead with visionary improvements to housing, public safety, and infrastructure.”

Gordon’s platform focuses on four key areas, which she details on her website:

• Infrastructure that Works – District 3 residents want a city that works. Gordon will ensure that Cathedral City’s interests are protected in the Palm Springs Ramon Road Bridge project, while working with staff on projects like street light improvements and road resurfacing.
• Safe and Welcoming Community – Gordon has worked closely with both the Fire and Police Chiefs and their departments to ensure that Cathedral City is prepared for when the worst happens, and that those who serve our community understand the unique needs of the people who live in Cathedral City. This results in public safety that serves Cathedral City residents and ensures residents feel safe and at home in the community.
• Community Engagement – City survey data shows residents are mostly satisfied with Cathedral City, but many don’t know what the city is doing on economic development, public safety, and road projects. Gordon has directed community money toward communications planning and outreach to ensure all residents are involved and engaged.
• Housing For Everyone – Gordon is a member of the Coachella Valley Association of Government’s Homelessness Committee, working in Cathedral City and across the valley to ensure that the City is connected to resources for residents most in need. She is committed to leading the City’s efforts around affordable and workable housing so that there is housing that is accessible to the people who live and work in Cathedral City.

“Cathedral City is a great place to live, work, and spend time – and I’m committed to ensuring it continues to grow and thrive. I’ve spent the past six months as a councilmember attending meetings and events, engaging in our city and across the valley, talking to our residents and hearing what they need so that Cathedral City keeps moving forward,” Gordon said. “Hearing from residents, business and nonprofit leaders, and connecting with cities in our valley ensures that I am plugged into what our city needs and how I can help deliver it.”

The City of Cathedral City will hold its General Municipal Election on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Eligible voters will have the opportunity to elect members of the City Council to serve the community and help guide the future of Cathedral City.

• City Treasurer – At Large
