Joint City Council/Agua Caliente Tribal Meeting set for Thursday, July 18 at Palm Springs Convention Center
PALM SPRINGS — For the first time in six years, the Palm Springs City Council will meet with the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians to discuss a variety of items and accomplishments important to the community at an upcoming Joint City Council/Tribal meeting on Thursday, July 18.
The meeting begins at 5 p.m. at the Palm Springs Convention Center, 277 N. Avenida Caballeros.
The agenda will include the following:
- Agua Caliente: Staff will provide updates on programming for the new Agua Caliente Cultural Museum, curriculum related to its popular Native American educational collaboration with Palm Springs Unified School District, the Tribal Food & Beverage Tax Program, and information regarding a new Tribal Court.
- City of Palm Springs: Saff will provide updates on the College of the Desert West Valley Campus, economic development, arts and culture programs, and the recent vote to place a measure on the Nov. 5 General Municipal Election Ballot to extend the term of Measure J, a one cent sales tax increase originally approved by voters in 2011.
