Riverside City Councilmember Clarissa Cervantes Nabbed for DUI

Clarissa Cervantes, who represents Ward 2 on the Riverside City Council, was arrested at 1:23 a.m. on Saturday, July 1 for drunken driving.
CHP made the arrest at Eighth Street Southbound on I-10, according to the booking data. She was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning. Bail was set at $5,000.
She is scheduled to appear in court at 7:30 a.m. on Aug. 30.
Cervantes, 32, is the first woman to ever represent Ward 2, and she is the second Latina and the second LGBTQ person ever elected to the Riverside City Council.
She is currently running in the open-seat race for Assembly District 58. Cervantes, a Democrat, declared her candidacy for the general election scheduled on Nov. 5, 2024.
She is the latest public official to be arrested on DUI charges. College of the Desert Trustee Rubén Pérez, 29, was arrested on Feb. 10 for driving under the influence. His arraignment has been rescheduled for July 19. He is being represented by Anastacio De La Cruz of Indio.
Coachella Valley Water District Board Vice President Cástulo R. Estrada, who was arrested Jan. 23 driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol content of .08 or higher.
