Christmas Tree Lighting and Enchanted Holiday Parade with Elf and Friends Planned for Dec. 3 and 5

COACHELLA – The city is kicking off the holiday season in a big way with two free community events this week in downtown Coachella. The annual Christmas Tree Lighting event is set for today, Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 5:30 p.m. in front of City Hall on Sixth Street where a full program of musical performances and an introduction to Coachella’s newest Hometown Heroes will take place.

The evening will conclude with a countdown to the Christmas tree lighting, followed by photos with Mr. and Mrs. Santa Clause. Special holiday treats, food and giveaways courtesy of Chelsea Investment Corporation and Heptagon 7 will be provided to guests (while supplies last).

On Friday, Dec. 5 at 6 p.m., the Enchanted Holiday Parade with Elf and Friends will commence through downtown Coachella with a spirited procession of performers and floats, kicked off by parade Grand Marshall Lee Espinoza and hosted by Dr. Frances Esparza, Superintendent of Coachella Valley Unified School District.  New attractions this year will include Santa’s Bounce House Village, a special scavenger hunt, face painting, balloon twisting and a special animal adoption event at Veterans’ Memorial Park from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in partnership with Palm Springs Animal Shelter.

“The holiday season is one of my favorite times in Coachella,” Councilmember Frank Figueroa said in a prepared statement. “This is when our downtown comes alive with magic, we honor residents who have made an impact in the community, and we all come together to share in the excitement and spirit of the season.”

Both events will be livestreamed on Coachella’s Facebook page and YouTube channel @cityofcoachella2307.  For more information regarding the Christmas Tree Lighting and Enchanted Holiday Parade with Elf and Friends, please visit Coachella.org.
