Search begins anew for communications, events manager in Cathedral City

CATHEDRAL CITY — After one week on the job as Communications and Events Manager for this community, Lisa Luna has departed, Uken Report has learned.

“She is no longer with us,” City Manager Charles McClendon told Uken Report. “She worked for a week.”

McClendon said for personnel reasons he could not disclose the reasons for her departure.

Seemingly unfazed by the abrupt departure, McClendon said he hopes to soon have someone in the position. Luna was one of numerous finalists.

Luna began duties May 23. She was filling the vacancy created by Chris Parman, who in April announced his resignation effective May 31. Parman held the position since 2014.

Luna, who has a broad background in public relations and marketing, is bilingual in Spanish.

As one of her first unofficial duties, Luna attended the 2022 Cathedral City State of the City Business Awards & Expo.

Luna was one of six finalists, who underwent through three tiers of evaluations and interviews, for the position, according to Parman. Two of the finalists’ names were forwarded to City Manager Charles McClendon.

“She was everyone’s first choice,” Parman said at the time of her hire. “She will be a tremendous asset to the city, especially when it comes to events. She’s confident, not easily intimidated and comfortable in her own skin.”

There was an overlap of nine days with Luna before Parman exited.

The salary range for the position is $92,203 to $120,691 annually plus benefits.
