The Riverside County Medical Association has announced it endorsement of Perez for County Supervisor. The Association joins a diverse coalition of local public safety, labor, and business organizations who are backing Perez.

Earlier this month, The Riverside Sheriffs’ Association announced its endorsement of Perez.

Jan Harnik, a member of the Palm Desert City Council who is challenging Perez, also sought the RSA’s endorsement.

RSA, one of the most coveted political endorsements in Riverside County, joined CAL FIRE Local 2811 in backing Perez.

In announcing its endorsement, the Medical Association President Dr. Raj Sindher, M.D, released the following statement:

“During his time on the Board of Supervisors, Manuel Perez has proven to be an accessible leader who listens and a detail-oriented policy expert who is committed to protecting public health. Our organization has worked closely with Manuel to support policies that expand access to care and improve health outcomes for Coachella Valley residents. Manuel Perez has been a great Supervisor for the Coachella Valley, and the Riverside County Medical Association is proud to announce our full support of his campaign.”

The RCMA is comprised of more than 1,100 physicians practicing medicine throughout Riverside County. Established in 1893, the RCMA is a professional association of Doctors of Medicine to promote the science and art of medicine, the care and well-being of patients, the protection of the public health, and the betterment of the medical profession.

Perez is seeking election to the seat he now holds in the June election. Gov. Jerry Brown appointed Perez to the District 4 seat, which covers the Coachella Valley, until the November 2018 election. He was appointed in May 2017 to fill the seat left vacant in the wake of Supervisor John Benoit’s death in December 2016.
