Jacob Masters,
PALM SPRINGS — A 53-year-old Palm Springs man has been arrested in connection with a reported stabbing along the CV Link last year, according to a Palm Springs Police Department release.
Jacob Masters, was booked at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility and has been charged with attempted murder and resisting an officer.
The charges stems from an incident on Dec. 31, 2025, when the Palm Springs Police Department officers responded to a reported stabbing that occurred along the CV Link trail between Golf Club Drive and Cathedral Canyon Drive, within the City of Palm Springs. The incident was reported to police at approximately 2:40 p.m., and the victim advised the assault had occurred earlier that day, around 11:30 a.m.
During the investigation, the victim, an adult male out for a walk, reported that he made eye contact with a man on the trail as they passed. The suspect reportedly put on a ski mask, approached while yelling profanities, and assaulted the victim, knocking him to the ground. The victim fought back, and the suspect fled on foot. After the altercation, the victim learned he had been stabbed. The victim was treated for his injuries at a local hospital and later released.
On Sunday, Jan. 11, officers located Masters in the 5600 block of East Ramon Road. When officers attempted to detain him, Masters fled but was ultimately apprehended near the CV Link trail in the area of the Cimarron Golf Course., according to the news release.
At this time, the incident appears to have been an unprovoked attack. The suspect did not demand property, and the motive remains under investigation.
