CATHEDRAL CITY — Coachella Valley Repertory continues its 2023-2024 Season with one of the most hilarious shows to hit Broadway in many seasons, POTUS: OR BEHIND EVERY GREAT DUMBASS ARE SEVEN WOMEN TRYING TO KEEP HIM ALIVE.
Written by the award-winning playwright SELINA FILLINGER, and directed by COURTNEY YOUNG, POTUS is a side-splitting, uplifting Tony• and Drama League Award-nominee that applauds the women who somehow manage to keep things running in, and out, of the presidential Oval Office. Seven brilliant and beleaguered women surround the president of the United States are forced to use every desperate measure at their every resource to help him save face when his scandals spark a global crisis.

And the San Francisco Chronicle wrote, “It’s the kind of theater where you almost never sit back; you’re ever alert for the walls of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. to come tumbling down.”
The cast of POTUS includes TAMIKA KATON DONEGAL (Chris, the White House reporter), CAS KOENIG (Bernadette, the President’s sister), EMILY NASH (Stephanie, the President’s secretary), SHANNON MARY DIXON (Dusty, the President’s mistress), MICHELLE LIU COUGHLIN (Dusty, the press secretary), JULIE CARDIA (Harriette, chief of staff), and MARLO DENISE STROUD (Margaret, the First Lady).
Courtney Young will direct POTUS. Scenic design is by Jimmy Cuomo, costumes by Ema Bibo, hair and makeup by Lynda Shaeps. Technical director and lighting designer is Moira Wilkie Whitaker, sound designer is Joshua Adams, and stage manager is Melinda Ginn.
Audience members are advised that strong, explicit language is used in a comedic context.
POTUS: OR BEHIND EVERY GEAT DUMBASS ARE SEVEN WOMEN TRYING TO KEEP HIM ALIVE runs Jan. 24-Feb. 10, with performances on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., Thursdays & Fridays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Talkback Thursday for POTUS will be Feb. 1. Talkback Thursdays are held immediately after the performance on the second Thursday of each production, offering audience members the opportunity to discuss the plays with the creative team and casts.
