Elected in 2014, Garcia presides as Chair of the Assembly Committee on Utilities and Energy, overseeing critical issues such as ensuring energy stability, affordability, and safety and California’s groundbreaking efforts to decarbonize its electrical grid. He serves on the Assembly Committees on Budget; Budget Subcommittee 3; Communications and Conveyance; Governmental Organization; and Human Services.

Garcia is an Ex Officio Member of the California Air Resources Board. He chairs the newly established Assembly Select Committee on California’s Lithium Economy and previously chaired the Assembly3

“We’ve moved forward with early endorsements so Coachella Valley voters will have time to meet and know the candidates who will likely be on their ballots in the November 2024 election after the March 5th Primary,” said DOD President Marcie Maxwell. “We’ve approved Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia’s endorsement with the expectation that he will be part of a winning coordinated campaign strategy with our key early endorsed candidates — Congressman Dr. Raul Ruiz, CA-25; congressional candidate Will Rollins, CA-41; State Senate candidate Lisa Middleton, 19th; and State Assembly candidate Christy Holstege, 47th.”

There are many ways voters can get involved now, working toward the November 2024 election, according to Maxwell.  Democrats of the Desert offers opportunities to learn about issues and meet candidates, plus participate in elections and advocacy workshops, calls to action, attend informative monthly meetings, and volunteer on campaigns.

On Oct. 21st, DOD is hosting “Our Dream Team – Path to Progress.” It’s a special event with Congressman Ruiz and congressional candidate Rollins in an extended discussion about representing the Coachella Valley and beyond.
