Democrats plan luncheon to celebrate election wins to

PALM DESERT — Five Democratic groups will come together on Feb. 26 to a celebration luncheon of Riverside County election wins.

The celebration luncheon is being held by Democratic Women of the Desert, Democrats in Sun City Palm Desert, Democrats in Sun City Shadow Hills, Palm Desert Greens Democratic Club, and Democratic Headquarters of the Desert.

“The Election Wins Celebration Luncheon is about some of our victories,” Elle Kurpiewski, political director of Democratic Headquarters of the Desert, told Uken Report. “Though disappointed with the results for Christy Holstege and Will Rollins, we did have some victories such as Congressman Raul Ruiz’s overwhelming victory in his new district as well as some of the down-ticket campaigns such as Mayor Steve Hernandez’s re-election, school board seats, COD seats and City Council seats such as Grace Garner for Palm Springs.”

We fully recognize there is much work to be done to elect more Democrats and you know that Democratic Headquarters of the Desert, going on 15 years of continuous operation, is not sitting idly by, Kurpiewski said.

“I think one of the most wonderful results was candidate for the 41st Congressional seat Will Rollins coming so close in defeating a 30-year incumbent.  As said, we are NOT sitting idly by!”

The luncheon is set for Sunday, Feb. 26 at 1 p.m. The cost is $40 per person or $375 for a table of 10. The event will be held at Del Webb Sun City Palm Desert, Mountain View Clubhouse, Ventana Room, 38180 Del Webb Blvd. in Palm Desert.

Reservations must be received by Feb. 21. Do not wait. Some lunch options and tables are already sold out.
