Would you like to help shape the future of the Desert Healthcare District and Foundation, one of the largest contributors to nonprofit programs, services and facilities in the Coachella Valley?

The District and Foundation Board plans to appoint a new Board Director this month and will accept application letters until noon Friday, May 10.

Applicants must:

  • Be registered voters residing within the boundaries of the District’s Zone 5 (please see the map here)
  • Be prepared to serve as a Director until the Nov. 3, 2020 general election
  • File a Fair Political Practices Act Disclosure Statement (Form 700) with their application

Interviews will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, with the Board at the District offices. A new Director is expected to be appointed the same day.

The appointed Director will fill a vacancy created in April when Director Jennifer Wortham resigned, prompted by a move out of the Coachella Valley related to her job.

On Tuesday, April 23, three officers were elected by the Desert Healthcare District and Foundation Board of Directors. Dr. Les Zendle replaced Wortham as president, Leticia De Lara was elected vice-president/secretary, and Mark Matthews retained his position as treasurer.

The Board officers’ election was prompted by Wortham’s April 15 resignation. Her departure from the Board also sets in motion a process to appoint a new Director from Zone 5. You can see the map by clicking here.

Eligible applicants will be interviewed and considered for the appointment during a special meeting at 4-6 p.m. May 14 at the District offices. Anyone seeking additional information should contact Chris Christensen by phone at (760) 323-6365.

Valley residents interested in applying are asked to send their letters to interim CEO Chris Christensen, Desert Healthcare District and Foundation, 1140 N. Indian Canyon Drive, Palm Springs. Anyone seeking additional information also may call Christensen at (760) 323-6365.
