Dr. Robert Piecuch Desires to Influence Health Care in Desert

PALM SPRINGS — Uken Report distributed candidate questionnaires to all candidates seeking election to the Desert Healthcare District Board of Trustees in the Nov. 5 election. Following are unedited responses from Dr. Robert Piecuch who is running in Zone 1.

UR: Age, city which you live, and occupation

Robert Piecuch: I live in rancho mirage. I’m 73 yo and a. Neonatologist at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital
I heard announcement about open seat in district 1 on news and decided to run.

UR: Who or what motivated you to run for the Desert Healthcare District Board of Directors?

Robert Piecuch: I’d like to have an influence on health care in the desert.

UR: In your own words, can you describe the Desert Healthcare District is and what it does?

Robert Piecuch: I am familiar with the District because I was med director at DRMC NICU

UR: Do you support Measure AA, which renews the Desert Regional Medical Center lease with Tenet? Why or why not?

Robert Piecuch: I was unhappy with Tenet management. We deserve better care in the desert. As a for profit Temet bottom line financial despite recent tv adds.  I oppose AA. I will be outspoken anti AA candidate. If passes I think more responsibility on district to oversee Temet activities Hoping to get endorsement from nursing unions always opposed to a Tenet management.

UR: What do you see is your role as a director?

Dr. Piecuch: No response

UR: What makes you a better candidate than your opponent?

Robert Piecuch: I have more direct experience in desert medical community and medical leadership than opponents.

UR: How does the board ensure strong and effective executive leadership?

Dr. Piecuch: No response
