INDIO — In less than 24 hours, Elizabeth Romero has picked up two significant endorsements giving her candidacy for the 28th state Senate District a healthy show of support.

Riverside County Fourth District Supervisor V. Manuel Perez was the first to publicly pledge his unequivocal support for Elizabeth Romero.

Within hours of Perez’s endorsement becoming public, Nachhattar Singh Chandi, president of the Indio-based Chandi Group, USA, confirmed for Uken Report that he, too, is endorsing Elizabeth Romero. The Chandi name carries a significant amount of weight and respect in the Coachella Valley and beyond its borders.

“My family and I have known Elizabeth Romero for over two decades,” Chandi told Uken Report. “Supporting Elizabeth is personal for us. She is honest, hardworking, and trustworthy. While we don’t always agree on everything, Elizabeth has always been open to hearing other perspectives and ultimately working with community members, like us, to achieve the American Dream. Transparency and integrity are qualities we need in our elected officials. Elizabeth has those qualities and more. Please join our family in supporting Elizabeth for the 28th State Senate District 2020.”

At the time of publication, Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia was not prepared to say who he will endorse.

Elizabeth Romero is one of two Democrats who have publicly indicated they will seek the seat vacated earlier this year when Jeff Stone resigned to go work for the Trump Administration. The other person is Joy Silver who lost when she challenged Stone for his seat in 2018. Silver is a retired business woman.

The 28th Senate District, which is entirely in Riverside County, stretches from the vineyards of the Temecula Valley to the Colorado River and includes the cities of Blythe, Canyon Lake, Cathedral City, Coachella, Desert Hot Springs, Indian Wells, Indio, Lake Elsinore, La Quinta, Murrieta, Temecula, Palm Desert, Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage, and Wildomar.
