DA Files Charges Against Former Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Correctional Deputy

BANNING –A former Riverside County Sheriff’s Office correctional deputy has been charged with two felonies, including possession of narcotics for sale, transportation with the intent to distribute narcotics, and the enhancement of possession of a firearm while in commission of those felonies.

The charges against Jorge Oceguera-Rocha were filed Monday morning by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office. Oceguera-Rocha is scheduled to be arraigned today (Sept. 25) at 1:30 p.m. at the Banning Justice Center.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, Special Investigations Bureau (SIB), originally arrested Oceguera-Rocha on Sept. 17 during a traffic stop in Calimesa. He was re-arrested by SIB, and re-booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center in Banning on Sept. 20 for consideration of charges by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.

According to RSO, Oceguera-Rocha resigned his position with that office in lieu of termination.

If convicted of all charges, Oceguera-Rocha is eligible to spend a maximum of ten years in local custody.

The case, BAF2301009, is being prosecuted by the DA’s Office Major Organized Crimes
