‘Sonidos’ to Launch Opening of Center Stage in Downtown Indio

INDIO ­— This community, the largest in the Coachella Valley and renowned as the city of Festivals, will host a free concert at the grand opening of its latest project in the revitalization of Downtown Indio, “Center Stage,” today, Wednesday, April 17.

Attendees will also be able to enter a giveaway to win a pair of tickets for Coachella Weekend 2.

“Center Stage Presents Sonidos” encourages the community to experience the vibrant tapestry of Hispanic artists, providing a platform for local talent to shine and for residents to revel in the festivities amidst the bustling festival season.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will open Center Stage at 5 p.m., and Sonidos will kick off at 5:45 p.m. The concert lineup includes a variety of local talent including Los Vampiroz, Ay-Lex Song, Queridos De La Sierra and Giselle Woo and The Night Owls. A drone show by Grizzly Entertainment will end the night featuring an exciting array of animations for attendees to enjoy. A variety of local vendors will be on site offering food for purchase or selling goods.

Center Stage, similar to the popular Cathedral City Community Amphitheater, will serve as the epicenter for a diverse array of events, ranging from the popular Second Saturdays free monthly concert series to open-mic nights, performances, viewing parties, and more. This venue aims to celebrate and showcase the rich diversity of talent within the community and entertainers travelling through the Coachella Valley.
