LOMA LINDA – The VA Loma Linda Healthcare System is providing free flu shots to eligible Veterans who are enrolled in the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Veterans can receive their free flu shot starting September 13 from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday walk-in clinic in the front lobby of the Medical Center, Pharmacy Outpatient Building from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., and Ambulatory Care Center walk-in flu shot clinic Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or at their next scheduled appointment.

This service is offered by the VA in an effort to help keep the community healthy during this flu season.  Veterans not currently registered with the VA Loma Linda are asked to bring a copy of their military discharge papers with them.

Flu Shots are available at the following locations:

  • VA Loma Linda Medical Center, 11201 Benton Street, Loma Linda, (909) 825-7084
  • Ambulatory Care Center, 26001 Redlands Blvd, Redlands, (909) 825-7084

The coming flu season is on track to be much worse than the last cycle, according to health experts, who fear an influx of cases could further strain hospitals already overwhelmed by the Delta surge.

According to the CDC, annual flu vaccination is recommended for everyone 6 months and older, with few exceptions.

The timing of flu is difficult to predict and can vary in different parts of the country and from season to season. Reduced population immunity due to lack of flu virus activity since March 2020 could result in an early and possibly severe flu season, according to the CDC
