Healthcare District Streamlines Online Grant Process

PALM SPRINGS — Building upon its mission “to achieve optimal health at all stages of life for all District residents,” the Desert Healthcare District and Foundation recently redefined its strategic funding areas and streamlined its online grant application process.

On Aug. 10, District and Foundation staff will host a free webinar to introduce five strategic funding areas and to demonstrate the simple steps to apply for full and mini grants. It will be presented at 3-5 p.m. via Zoom and all grantees, community partners and others interested in accessing the grants program are encouraged to participate.

The Desert Healthcare District Board of Directors approved a one-year grant-making budget that allows strategic investments while we continue to work on a Community Health Needs Assessment and Health Improvement Plan that we expect will help us determine future funding priorities.

“We are strategically focused on strengthening our healthcare infrastructure, improving our community’s health, and providing protection to vulnerable populations while still fighting a pandemic,” Dr. Conrado Bárzaga, Desert Healthcare District and Foundation CEO, said in a prepared statement.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the District and Foundation Board has committed $2.6 million to help provide viral and antibody tests, emergency funds for residents in need, face shields and other personal protective equipment for frontline healthcare workers, and financial aid for the core operation support at nonprofit agencies and community partners adversely affected by the virus.

To register for the webinar on August 10, please email your RSVP to aespinoza@dhcd.org. Everyone who registers with an email address will receive a link to join the presentation via Zoom.
