Autumn is synonymous with Palm Springs’ Homecoming Parade

One of the sure signs of autumn is the beloved annual Palm Springs High School Homecoming Parade on Wednesday, Oct. 12 in downtown.

The 3:30 p.m. parade will kick off at Baristo Road and head north along Palm Canyon Drive and conclude at Alejo Road. This year’s Grand Marshal is Palm Springs High School teacher and head football coach Dan Murphy, who is retiring after 26 years of teaching and 25 years of coaching football. The parade theme is “Mardi Gras.”

In addition, this year’s parade features members of the Palm Springs City Council, the Board of Palm Springs Unified School District, along with the much-loved Palm Springs High School Marching Band “Spirit of the Sands” – and of course, the school’s legendary tough-as-nails football team, the champion Palm Springs High School Indians.

The Indians take on the La Quinta High School Blackhawks in their Homecoming game today, Friday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. at Ralph Watt Stadium. There will be a pre-show starting at 6:15 p.m. featuring the class floats, the 2022 Homecoming Court, Ballet Folklorico, and the Spirit of the Sands Marching Band.

Here’s a peek at the marching band.
