Man Jailed for Possessing Stolen Property

INDIO — A 59-year-old Coachella man was identified as the suspect in a theft that occurred within the 81000 block of Contento Street in La Quinta in which several high value golf clubs and equipment were stolen from a vehicle, Sergeant Kyle LaFond said.

The man was identified as Jose Antonio Castillo.

On Oct. 28, deputies from the Thermal Sheriff’s Station responded to a theft that occurred within the 81000 block of Contento Street in La Quinta.

During the investigation, Castillo was identified as the suspect. A search warrant was served by the city of La Quinta Special Enforcement Team in the 85000 block of Cairo Street, Coachella where Castillo was taken into custody. Evidence implicating Castillo in the theft was recovered, as well as numerous other suspected stolen items. Ammunition was also located during the service of the search warrant. Castillo was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio, for possession of stolen property and felon in possession of ammunition. Once the report was taken, the La Quinta Special Enforcement Team assumed the investigation.

Ammunition was also located during the service of the search warrant. Castillo was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio, for possession of stolen property and felon in possession of ammunition.
