PALM DESERT — As the coronavirus invades the Coachella Valley and beyond claiming the lives of some and sickening others, there are signs of hope and optimism peeking through the darkness. One beacon of hope shines from the McCallum Theatre.
The intimate 1,127-seat venue is closed through April 30 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The theatre closed after Riverside County Public Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser issued an order to cancel public gatherings of 250 people or more.
The McCallum Theatre, which rivals Broadway and attracts the best in stage, comedy, magic,and musical talent, holds its Member Appreciation Week today, Monday, April 6, through Thursday, April 9.
“We hope you are staying safe and healthy during this very trying time,” Mitch Gershenfeld, acting president and director of programming, told members in a letter. “”Undoubtedly, we are in We are in uncharted territory and are paying close attention to the recommendations of public health officials. Having said that, we are optimistic that come fall, we will be on the other side of this pandemic,”
There it is. A much-needed ray of hope for normalcy.
And, with that, the beloved and popular McCallum Theatre revealed it star-studded 2020-2021 lineup. It is packed with longtime favorites and new faces that are sure to come favorites as well.
