There is nothing complicated about the business. It is exactly what its name implies.

To learn more, Uken Report (UR) reached out to Stephan Kesseboom, the owner, to learn a bit more.

UR: What services do you offer?

Montgomery Pet Sitters: Dog walks and cat visits, additionally fish, birds! House sitting in the customer’s home plus resort sitting in hotels especially here in the Coachella Valley, during festivals in particular. We have house-sitting clients quite far away as there seems to be a need for this service, our farthest away is in Seattle, Wash.

UR: How did you come up with this idea, or why did you think there was a need?

Montgomery Pet Sitters: I was at a point in my life at which I wanted to change direction. I was open to just about anything, let life take its course. Pet sitting it was, the past 15 years were truly a great experience!

UR: How much do you charge?

Montgomery Pet Sitters: The most basic visits are in the range of $20 to $30, house sitting is charges from $110 per day, hotel-sitting is charged starting at $25/hour.

UR: Do you have pets of your own?

Montgomery Pet Sitters: Interestingly, I have no pet of my own. My last dog died around 20 years ago. Before I could have been ready for a successor, I came to be a pet sitter. There’s never a day without a pet for me nowadays, but my own pet would interfere with my ability to offer some of our services.

UR: Where do you live?

Montgomery Pet Sitters: Uptown Palm Springs

UR: How long have you been doing this?

Montgomery Pet Sitters: Almost 16 years

UR: What animals will you care for?

Montgomery Pet Sitters: Almost any house pets. We also have a client with chickens. With horses in my past, I wouldn’t shy away from horses.

UR: Do you go to people’s homes or do the pets come to you?

Montgomery Pet Sitters: We usually go to people’s homes, but people bring Fido or Kitty to a sitter’s home on occasion.

UR: Anything you would like to add?

Stephan Kesseboom: Geographically and professionally I am at the best point in my life. I started becoming a pet- sitter as the qualified car mechanic that I am. I moved to Palm Springs without ever having been here! This profession is my calling and Palm Spring is my home!
