What’s better than a neighborhood picnic to kick off the spring season in Palm Spring?

Come join in a celebration of Palm Springs neigborhoods and the many wonderful
things that make our city like no place else, when the Organized Neighborhoods of
Palm Springs, (ONE-PS), hosts its 11th Annual Picnic & Community Expo on
Saturday, March 24 in Ruth Hardy Park.

The picnic, which will be held from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m, features a free lunch for residents from
four popular Palm Springs eateries and a multitude of informational booths showcasing
local businesses, city services and neighborhoods.

ONE-PS Annual Picnic & Expo Set for March 24New to the picnic this year will be free tethered hot air balloon rides, courtesy of RE/MAX Desert Properties. The balloon will be set up at the park beginning at 9:30 a.m. and rides will be offered until noon, weather permitting.

On display will be the Palm Springs Fire Department’s first fire truck – the restored, 1931 American La France 500-gallon-per-minute pumper, El Diablo Rojos (“The Red Devil”).

LifeStream will also conduct a blood drive as part of the festivities, with the goal of collecting 23 pints of blood during the event.

Other participants among the expo’s 50 booths and displays, include the Palm Springs Mounted Police Search & Rescue, the Palm Springs Fire Department’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) trailer, Palm Springs Animal Shelter and the Palm Springs Cultural Center. Face painting and crafts will be provided by the City of Palm Springs Parks & Recreation Department.

ONE-PS Annual Picnic & Expo Set for March 24In addition, a fun “Bark in the Park” dog costume contest will be held beginning at 12:30 p.m., with prizes awarded for the cutest, funniest and most original dogs in the community. Registration begins at noon.

Finally, don’t miss the Second Edition of the free ONE-PS Guide to Palm Springs Neighborhoods, which will be handed out to residents during the event.
