Palm Springs Public Library Resumes Passport Services

PALM SPRINGS – The Palm Springs Public Library, designated as a U.S. Department of State Passport Acceptance Facility, is once again assisting the public in executing their completed U.S. passport applications.

The Library accepts your passport application and forwards all forms and documents to the United States Department of State, where your passport will be processed.  Now is the time to plan ahead to ensure your international travel plans aren’t impacted.

As an official Passport Acceptance Facility, the Library can only help to facilitate the execution of new passports, not renewals. Appointments are required and are available Monday – Saturday offering a convenient option for everyone. It’s easy to make an appointment, just go the Library’s website at www.pslibrary.org. and click on ‘Passport.’

Applicable processing fees set by the State Department are paid at the time of service. U.S. Passport photos are also available for a $15 fee. Please note that due to the current backlog at the Department of State their processing times are longer than usual and can take up to 18 weeks, or 12 weeks with paid expedited service. Also, when coming to the Library for your appointment all persons are required to wear face masks.

“Our staff is trained and happy to help anyone applying for a new passport; we are excited to bring back this service to the community” said Jeannie Kays, Director of Library Services.
