Probation Compliance Check Nets Handguns, Ammunition, Arrests
DESERT HOT SPRINGS —During a probation compliance check at a residence in the 66000 block of Fifth Street in Desert Hot Springs. Gang Task Force officers located two loaded 9mm semi-auto handguns with no serial numbers, extended handgun magazines, a handgun silencer and handgun ammunition.
Also located were several suspected fentanyl pills and evidence of narcotics sales.
The probation compliance occurred ay 9 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17th. The Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force (CVVCGTF) with the assistance of Riverside County Probation, conducted the compliance check.
Seven juveniles under the age of five were located inside the residence at the time if the compliance check in close proximity to the handguns and narcotics.
Gang Task Force Officers arrested convicted felon and documented criminal street gang member, Gary Griffin-Ramirez, 28 of Desert Hot Springs for convicted felon in possession of a firearm, convicted felon in possession of ammunition, convicted felon in possession of a silencer, possession of narcotics for sales, possession of firearm with narcotics and child endangerment.
Also arrested was documented criminal street gang member, Orlando Griffin-Ramirez, 21 of Desert Hot Springs for Child Endangerment and Suhey Barraza, 26 of Desert Hot Springs for Child Endangerment. All three subjects were booked at the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio.
It is at least the second set of gang-related arrests made this month.
