Longtime Valley leaders lend their support to Ken Calvert

CORONA – U.S. Rep. Ken Calvert, a Republican from Corona, this morning announced he has received the endorsement of additional local leaders throughout the Coachella Valley. The following elected officials announced they are endorsing Ken Calvert for the 41st Congressional District:

  • La Quinta Mayor Linda Evans
  • Palm Desert Mayor Pro Tem Sabby Jonathan
  • Rancho Mirage Council Member Iris Smotrich
  • Indio Councilmember Glenn Miller

“I am proud to endorse Congressman Calvert because he understands the needs of Riverside County and how to work collaboratively to find solutions,” Evans said in a statement. “The Coachella Valley would greatly benefit from Ken’s experience and proven leadership in Congress.”

“I appreciate the strong support I’ve received throughout the Coachella Valley,” said Congressman Calvert. “Riverside County voters are desperate for change in our country, and I look forward to working with the leaders in our community to deliver results to the most pressing issues facing our region.”

Calvert was previously endorsed by Palm Desert Mayor Jan Harnik, Palm Desert Councilmember Gina Nestande, Indian Wells Mayor Dana Reed, La Quinta Councilmember John Peña, and La Quinta Councilmember Steve Sanchez. The Palm Springs Police Officers’ Association has also endorsed Calvert in the 41st Congressional District.

Calvert, who has represented portions of the Inland Empire since 1993, is seeking re-election in a newly drawn district that groups several Coachella Valley cities — including Palm Springs, La Quinta, Rancho Mirage and Palm Desert — with Menifee, Norco and Corona in western Riverside County.
