Memorial Ride Started in Memory Two Officers Killed in Line of Duty
The 8th Annual Memorial Ride organized by the Palm Springs Police Officers Association is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 9, This event features a police-escorted motorcycle ride, starting at Palm Springs Motor Sports in Palm Desert and concluding at the Cathedral City Community Amphitheater.
- Registration: 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
- Ride Start (Kicks Stands Up): 10:30 a.m.
- Location: Palm Springs Motor Sports, 72750 Dinah Shore Drive, #107, Palm Desert
- Memorial Service: Held at the Cathedral City Community Amphitheater after the ride.
The memorial ride, which has drawn hundreds, was started on behalf of two fallen officers. Police officer Lesley Zerebny, along with police officer Jose ‘Gil’ Vega, was shot and killed while responding to a domestic disturbance call in 2016. The memorial ride was created in their honor. The ride is designed keep their spirit alive in order to help other fallen officers throughout the state of California and throughout the nation.
“The primary reason for this ride is to remember our fallen officers, who paid the ultimate sacrifice while protecting and serving our communities,” Code Compliance Manager for Cathedral City, who is helping with the event. “Second, is to raise funds for the Peace Officers Association who in-turn will use those funds to support the families of the fallen. Lastly, it is to bring out all of our fellow biker brothers and sisters to enjoy a day filled with good music, great food, and fellowship.
