Rescue Mission Named 2026 Nonprofit of the Year

Assemblymember Jeff Gonzalez Welcomes Coachella Valley Rescue Mission as the 2026 Nonprofit of the Year for the 36th Assembly District

SACRAMENTO — The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission has been named the 2026 Nonprofit of the Year for California’s 36th Assembly District, Assemblymember Jeff Gonzalez announced.

As part of the recognition, Gonzalez welcomed Executive Director Amanda Galindo to the State Capitol to honor the organization’s ongoing commitment to serving individuals and families in need throughout the Coachella Valley.

Located in the city of Indio, the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission has long been a cornerstone of compassion and support in the community, providing shelter, meals, recovery programs, and life-changing resources to help individuals regain stability and rebuild their lives.

“The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission is doing incredible work to uplift people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives,” Gonzalez said in a statement. “Their commitment to helping those in need get back on their feet, restore hope, and build a better future is making a real difference in our community. I was honored to welcome Amanda Galindo to the State Capitol and recognize the Mission as the 2026 Nonprofit of the Year for Assembly District 36.”

The annual Nonprofit of the Year recognition honors organizations across California that demonstrate outstanding service and dedication to their communities.

Gonzalez represents Imperial County and portions of Riverside and San Bernardino County in the California Legislature. District 36 includes Anza, Blythe, Brawley, Calexico, Coachella, El Centro, Hemet, Holtville, Imperial, Indio, Mecca, Salton City, Thermal, Westmorland, Winchester, and Winterhaven.
