Healthcare District teams up with CVWD, Rite Aid for COVID-19 Vaccination Day

Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD) is offering a COVID-19 vaccination clinic April 14 for District employees and their families in collaboration with Desert Healthcare District and Foundation and Rite Aid Pharmacies, with the support of Congressman Raul Ruiz’s office.

“Collaboration is a central component of our response to COVID-19 in the Coachella Valley,” said Conrado Bárzaga, CEO of the Desert Healthcare District and Foundation. “Since early 2020, we have worked with many nonprofit organizations and public agencies to help ensure that all valley residents have access to testing, educational and support resources, and now vaccines.

“We are proud to partner with the Coachella Valley Water District, which provides an essential service in Valley communities, to help bring vaccines to its employees and their families.”

“We are pleased to offer this clinic to our employees,” said Katie Evans, CVWD Director of Communications and Conservation. “It’s critical that our essential workers continue to provide water and services to the desert community.”

The two-shot Pfizer vaccinations for CVWD employees and families are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 14 at the Palm Desert Campus Board Room. Second shots will be given from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 5, also at the Palm Desert Campus Board Room.

“We are grateful for support from Desert Healthcare District and Foundation, Rite Aid Pharmacies and Congressman Ruiz’s office in offering this clinic,” said Evans.

Coachella Valley Water District is a public agency governed by a five-member board of directors. The District provides domestic and irrigation water, agricultural drainage, wastewater treatment and reclamation services, regional storm water protection, groundwater management and water conservation. It serves approximately 108,000 residential and business customers across 1,000 square miles, located primarily in Riverside County, but also in portions of Imperial and San Diego counties.

Desert Healthcare District is a local government agency formed in 1948. Its mission is to achieve optimal health at all stages of life for all District residents. The District includes more than 400,000 residents and encompasses the entire Coachella Valley. The District and Desert Healthcare Foundation, together, are one of the largest funders in the valley. These funds are used to assist residents — especially the underserved — in accessing vitally needed resources, such as primary and behavioral healthcare, housing, food, and transportation to medical appointments.
