Kimberlin Brown Pelzer is like a Rubik’s Cube. She is a challenge to figure out and is frustrating in the process.
More than two weeks ago, she made a brief announcement in the desert that she was making a bid for the 36th Congressional District seat now held by Rep. Raul Ruiz, a Democrat.
The Republican soap opera actress, 56, who currently appears on the “Bold and Beautiful,” hasn’t been seen publicly in the valley since. Those who have her ear say she was moving into her Palm Springs home last weekend and did not have time for interviews.
Keep in mind that California’s 36th Congressional is located in the southeastern portion of the state and includes most of Riverside County, including the area from Hemet to Blythe. It also includes the desert communities of Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Indio, Coachella, Rancho Mirage, Desert Hot Springs, Indian Wells and Cathedral City.
Note that it does not include San Diego.
Yet she was campaigning on a San Diego talk radio station Wednesday talking about her bid for Congress and posted it to her Facebook page.
She has a website but there is no phone number.
In a comment on my Facebook page on Tuesday, Steve Grasha, a conservative commentator who created the Riverside County Leadership Forum, said, “Kimberlin Brown will hopefully be adjusting her schedule to a more focused campaign in San Diego. Our team loves Kimberlin Brown and will be working hard for her to replace the soon to be convicted felon by the name of Duncan Hunter.”
Perhaps she is heeding Grasha’s advice.
At this point, it’s anyone’s guess.
Meantime, Dan Ball, 42, who is also seeking the Republican nomination for the 36th Congressional District, seems to be everywhere. It is simply fact. Less than three days after formally announcing his candidacy, supporters were reaching out offering to hold fundraisers for him.
If Pelzer Brown is a Rubik’s Cube, Ball is the Energizer Bunny.
He’s attended the Indian Wells Rotary, Desert AIDS Walk, the Coachella Valley Economic Partnership Summit and that’s just a sampling. There is photo evidence and eyewitness accounts.
The only question with him is, where he will he show up next?
