INDIO —Among the mixing and mingling and nibbling on holiday treats, state Sen. Jeff Stone (R-Riverside County) has woven a Sock Drive into the festivities.
Stone will hold a Holiday Open House and Sock Drive from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at his District Office in Indio.
The District Office is located at 45-125 Smurr Street, Suite B, in Indio.
Those attending are encouraged to bring new socks for the Sock Drive to be donated to the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission and Martha’s Village and Kitchen.
The Rescue Mission provides emergency shelter for more than 300 men, women and children a day. It provides more than 30,000 meals each month — two meals for the public each day and three meals for its residents a day.
Martha’s Village & Kitchen is one of the largest providers of homeless services in the Coachella Valley and Riverside County.
Sock donations are not required to attend the event.
“I look forward to this opportunity to spend time with the wonderful people of the Coachella Valley and encourage them to donate socks for those in need across the region,” said Senator Stone.
Light refreshments and drinks will be served during the open house.
No appointment is necessary to meet with the Senator and his staff during the Holiday Open House.
If you are unable to attend, sock donations are also being accepted at the Senator’s office from Monday through Friday during regular business hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
For more information, please call Senator Stone’s Indio office at (760) 398-6442.
Stone, who was handily re-elected in the November California General Election, represents California’s 28th Senate District. The district, which is entirely in Riverside County, stretches from the vineyards of the Temecula Valley to the Colorado River and includes the cities of Blythe, Canyon Lake, Cathedral City, Coachella, Desert Hot Springs, Indian Wells, Indio, Lake Elsinore, La Quinta, Murrieta, Temecula, Palm Desert, Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage and Wildomar.
