LifeStream Blood Bank shares the heartbreak of a nation following the recent deadly mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio.

To show solidarity with these communities under assault and encourage Southern California residents to make a statement of support to El Paso and Dayton as they struggle to recover from these devastating tragedies, LifeStream is making a financial donation to El Paso/Dayton-based foundations for every blood donation received at LifeStream donor centers and mobile blood drives Monday, Aug. 5 through Sunday, Aug. 11.

Lifestream is asking for more than thoughts and prayers. Donating blood could easily help save a life.

Your single donation can help multiple patients. Following collection, red blood cells, plasma and platelets are separated, stored and distributed separately.

All blood types are needed to help patients; the need for type O negative is especially acute. Only 7% of U.S. residents have “universal” blood.

Vitalant, a non-profit organization that collects blood from volunteer donors and provides blood, blood products and services across the United El Paso, has reached capacity for walk-ins. People waited for hours on Saturday to donate — and make an appointment.

Twenty people are dead and more than two dozen are injured after a shooting on July 3 at a shopping center in El Paso, Texas, authorities say told CNN.

Federal investigators are treating the shooting as domestic terrorism, according to U.S. Attorney John Bash.

Within 13 hours of the El Paso shooting, another nine people were killed in Ohio.

Nine people fatally shot, including the suspect’s sister, and 27 injured in the shooting in Dayton’s historic Oregon District, authorities told ABC News.

Walk-ins are welcome at all sites; LifeStream donor centers are open daily. For locations and hours, please click here.
