39th Season for Street Fair at College of the Desert Begins this weekend

PALM DESERT The popular and well-known Street Fair at College of the Desert makes its return on Sept. 3. In September, hours will be 8 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday and Sunday with approximately 40-50 vendors.

October hours will return to 8 a.m.-2 p.m., every weekend October through May with more than vendors.

“We are excited to open the Street Fair in time to celebrate the start of the fall season, “Executive Director, Betsy Young said. “The Street Fair supports over a hundred small business owners and is a popular destination for locals and visitors in the valley. “

The Street Fair presented by the College of the Desert Alumni Association is an open-air, weekend shopping experience offering merchant booths selling work from artisans as well as home goods, fashion and furniture, with a farmer’s market, live entertainment and gourmet food. Revenue from event, founded in 1983, supports students at College of the Desert through scholarships and program funding.

The event at College of the Desert remains free to attend, with ample free parking, free entertainment and free shuttles from the parking lots to the Street Fair.

The open-air market is hosted by the College of the Desert Alumni Association and is an open-air, weekend shopping venue with vendors selling everything from art to cars, fashion, home goods, gourmet food a farmer’s market and live entertainment. Vendor booths enable the Alumni Association to support College of the Desert students with scholarships and program funding.  The first Street Fair event was held at the Palm Desert campus in 1983.
