KidsWorks has become the largest camp in the Valley
INDIO — During the summer, the Indio Performing Arts Center, located in the heart of Downtown Indio, takes a break before starting its new season and hosts a summer camp called KidsWorks. The camp is for students in transitional kinder through eighth grade.
The Center promotes arts and entertainment in the community and showcases numerous plays throughout the year, each with its unique theme, performed by talented casts.
At KidsWorks, students can explore the world of performing arts and develop singing, dancing, acting, and technical theatre skills. IPAC’s experienced Teaching Artists will guide them through this transformative journey, inspiring them to discover their passions and work collaboratively to bring live theatre to the stage.
This year, IPAC partnered with the Desert Sands Unified School District (DSUSD) and achieved tremendous success. The first two two-week programs with 170 students have already concluded, and the second program will take place from July 10th to July 21st with 177 students. With 347 children in attendance, IPAC Summer Camp has become the largest camp in the valley.
Lance Phillips, artistic director, Desert TheatreWorks/KidsWorks, said, “Our theater camp offers an extraordinary experience for young individuals to cultivate their leadership abilities and foster self-management skills.”
Thanks to DSUSD’s Extended Learning Opportunities program, Desert Sands students can attend for free. Moreover, DSUSD will provide three meals daily to the July track at the Indio Performing Arts Center. For more information call 760.980.1455.
