Suavecito Sundays Fill Coachella with Live MusicCOACHELLA – March is alive with music events in this community of about 42,000 people with the return of two popular and free community events at Veterans’ Memorial Park. Suavecito Sundays is set for the first three Sundays of the month, followed by the Mariachi Festival on Saturday, March 25th.

This Sunday, March 5th marks the kick-off of Suavecito Sundays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with live music from the Cauldron Band. This event is being held in partnership with the Greater Coachella Chamber of Commerce and will continue March 12th with live music from Nacho Bustillos and March 19th with Tania y Su Nueva Era.  Guests will enjoy a display of classic cars, live Latin music, car shows and fun for the entire family including lawn games, kids’ games, exhibits and food vendors. The final Suavecito Sundays event on March 19th will also offer the anticipation of a $1,000 raffle for classic car entrants who participated in all three events.

“The heart and soul of our culture is music, which is why we make it the centerpiece of our community events,” Mayor Steven Hernandez said in a ststement. “I truly enjoy seeing our families and guests showing up with their folding chairs, gathering around in conversation and taking in the great food and music.”

Suavecito Sundays Fill Coachella with Live MusicThe final Saturday of March brings the Mariachi Festival to Veterans’ Memorial Park from 5 to 9pm, with folklorico dancing and live mariachi music from a variety of notable groups including Coachella Mariachi LLC, Mariachi Acero del Valle, Mariachi Espectacular and Mariachi Divas de Cindy Shea. This event will also feature food trucks, a beer garden and activities for kids such as lawn games, inflatable slides and mechanical bull rides.

“Our residents look towards the city to diversify the events they attend here in their own back yard, so hosting these events for their enjoyment is a priority,” Councilman Dr. Frank Figueroa said. “We’re looking forward to launching the first of many community events for the year!”
