Take the Mission Springs Water District Leak Challenge! Find it. Fix it. Share it. [Sponsored]
Did you know? Easy-to-fix household leaks waste nearly 1 trillion gallons of water every year in the U.S. The average home leaks almost 10,000 gallons annually, that’s money literally going down the drain. Mission Springs Water District is challenging you to find and fix leaks at home. In just 10 minutes, you can help protect our local water supply, lower your water bill, and stop water waste at home. Small leaks add up, and every drop matters in the desert.
Start by turning off all water inside and outside your home, then check your water meter. If the red dial is spinning, water is flowing and you may have a leak. Next, inspect outdoors first by checking hoses, sprinklers, irrigation, and look for damp spots or unusually green patches. Still nothing? Head indoors and listen for running water, check appliance connections, your water heater, and especially toilets (a running toilet can waste up to 6,000 gallons a month!).
We want to see Coachella Valley residents in action, if you are a Mission Springs Water District Customer, you can get your FREE toilet dye tabs from our friendly customer service representatives, just drop in! For step-by-step tips on toilets, pools, and more, visit mswd.org/leaks.
