Governor Extends Regional Water Board Term for MSWD Board of Directors President Nancy Wright

DESERT HOT SPRINGS – California Gov. Gavin Newsom appointed Board of Directors President Nancy Wright to an additional term on the Colorado River Basin Regional Water Quality Control Board for Region 7. The move continues the direct representation Mission Springs Water District (MSWD) customers have in regional water issues.

Wright has served on the board under four administrations, totaling more than 16 years of service, and is the current Chairperson for Region 7. The Colorado River Basin Regional Water Quality Control Board protects and preserves water supplies while maximizing long-term sustainability.

“It is truly an honor to continue serving on the Colorado River Basin Regional Water Quality Control Board and working to protect our water resources now and for future generations,” said Wright. “These efforts benefit MSWD customers and all those across the region who rely on this vital source of water.”

A Desert Hot Springs resident since 1973, Wright was first elected to the MSWD Board of Directors in 1988. She currently serves as Board President and represents MSWD on the Coachella Valley Association of Governments Energy and Environmental Resources Committee and the Coachella Valley Conservation Commission. She also serves on the Riverside County Local Agency Formation Commission, holding the Eastern Riverside County Special District seat since 2012. She is a founding member of the Desert Hot Springs Groundwater Guardians and previously served on the National Groundwater Foundation Board from 2003 through 2011.
