Prior to being named Interim Executive Director, Aguirre served for the past five years as the Airport’s Assistant Director to Executive Director Tom Nolan who resigned earlier this year to take a job in Orlando. Nolan led the airport for 13 years.

Before arriving in Palm Springs, Aguirre served in a variety of management roles at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), serving in positions such as Manager of Strategic Planning Projects and Terminal Operations as well as Director of Landside Operations.

Aguirre also served in several management capacities at Ontario International Airport, including Manager of Airport Administration.

“Ulises Aguirre has a wealth of experience managing complex airports and strategic project development at major hubs like LAX, Ontario International — and now for the past five years in Palm Springs,” Ready said in a prepared statement. “I am confident that his expertise and knowledge will allow him to continue to lead Palm Springs International Airport successfully and with great professionalism.”

Aguirre is a certified member of the American Association of Airport Executives and holds a certificate in Aviation Safety and Security from the University of Southern California.

“With the recent arrival of Southwest Airlines and other popular carriers, Palm Springs International Airport is experiencing unparalleled growth as one of the premier resort airports in Southern California and beyond,” according to Scott White, President and CEO of the Greater Palm Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau, who noted that Aguirre has played a key role in the success of PSP and its airline development.

“There is no doubt in my mind Ulises Aguirre is the right person to lead Palm Springs International Airport during these exciting times,” White said in a prepared statement.
