Another week, another embarrassment and another loss for the USA and our values.

The Trump Administration continues to hold over 2,500 children from their parents. Courts have ordered their reunification and the Administration delays, delays and delays.

The Administration keeps the love affair going with Vladimir Putin, changes their story, not just daily but hourly. We still don’t know what happened in Helsinki, not even Congress knows what was said — or promised. Putin says they are beginning to implement things, Trump says nothing.

The nominee for the Supreme Court has begun releasing documents of former cases and other items that the Senate is requesting. One of them is really scary — he says the decision of the Court in Nixon v United States (the case that forced Nixon to release the tapes that ultimately forced his resignation) was decided wrongly. He is a strong believer in executive power. Think of him making a decision if and when Trump is indicted or even given a subpoena to testify.

After several mass school shootings in the USA, Trump said he was gong to fix the problem. His answer? He announced this week that, in a deal with gun makers, plans on how to produce a gun using a 3D printer will be allowed to be made public.

When does all this end? Christine Todd Whitman, former Republican Governor of New Jersey and former head of the Environmental Protection Agency, wrote in an op-ed in The Hill, “Mr. President, you should be ashamed. To deny your own country and government in favor of a foreign whose country has, for decades, tried to undermine the United States is irrational and dangerous.” She continued, “Please step down, you are not fit to lead this great nation.”

We have just over 100 days until the midterm elections. It is imperative that the House and ideally the Senate flip to the Democrats. There must be balance brought back to Washington. One party rule has never worked well in the USA. Today we are seeing that proven in the extreme.

On another political note, the Republicans have chosen the city of Charlotte, N.C., for their 2020 National Convention. Is it because Charlotte was outstanding in their proposal? No, Charlotte is a beautiful community but they were chosen because they were the ONLY city to apply. Their mayor even said they weren’t sure they wanted it but had applied, to go through the process. They were unaware that they were the only city in the competition.

The Democrats will be naming their choice soon. The final candidate cities are; Miami Beach, Fla.; Houston, Texas; and Milwaukee, Wis. Interesting choices. Each has good points, each has challenges. It will be interesting to see what the result will be.

It is all of our jobs to get busy before November. Register EVERYONE to vote. This is the USA.
