The Great One — Wayne Gretzky to drop puck at Firebirds game on Sunday, Jan. 22

PALM DESERT – The Great One, Wayne Gretzky, the National Hockey League’s all-time leader in both goals and assist, nine-time Hart Trophy winner, a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame, and four-time Stanley Cup Champion, will drop the puck at Acrisure Arena on Sunday, Jan. 22 prior to the Coachella Valley Firebirds game against the San Diego Gulls at 3 p.m.

“It’s hard to believe it’s been 35 years when I was traded from Edmonton to Los Angeles Kings. It was an exciting time in my life,” Gretzky said. “To see hockey, grow in Southern California, and to have an AHL team in the desert is exciting. I’m looking forward to dropping the puck for the Coachella Valley Firebirds game.”

Gretzky will attend the Firebirds game and host a pre-game VIP photo opportunity available to a limited number of fans.  Tickets for the VIP photo opportunity are $199 per person and are available here. VIP package does not include a ticket to the game.

Gretzky’s appearance is made possible via a partnership with the Rancho Mirage Speaker Series. On Monday, Jan. 23, guests will sit down with the four-time Stanley Cup champion who will be interviewed by Christine Simpson, a 25-year broadcast veteran and host of Hockey Night in Canada. The first 1,000 people who purchase a series ticket to the Rancho Mirage Speaker Series will receive a ticket to the Firebirds game on Sunday, January 22.
