Cathedral City resident says City does not care about youth

As a 17-year resident, I am very disturbed that my city, Cathedral City, does not seem to care about the youth of this city.

As I have stated many times at City Council meetings and Parks and Recreation Department meetings, we have the worst recreational facilities of any city in the Coachella Valley, no organized sports leagues, no functioning baseball or football fields, and a huge child obesity rate.

This situation has been ignored for MANY years and people seem to think it is normal but it is not!

Many people ask why I am so passionate about this, as both my kids are grown. I tell them i grew up playing sports every day and I know the value of playing sports. They helped shape who I became.

All cities are facing huge financial problems, but improving our facilities are NOT big ticket items. I will continue to voice my concerns until this situation is rectified.
