Cathedral City also garnered national spotlight for being one of the safest cities in California
CATHEDRAL CITY — For the second time in less than three months, the national spotlight — even the world’s lens — is focused on this community, the Coachella Valley’s second largest city.
US News and World Report has just published its list of 14 Top Balloon Festivals in the World. The Cathedral City Hot Air Balloon Festival and Food Truck Fiesta has been ranked the top 6th Balloon Festival. The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta was ranked first as it is the largest balloon festival with approximately 600 balloons floating in the sky.
Cathedral City is in the company of Hot Air Balloon Festivals in Switzerland, Canada, Spain and more.
This is what the magazine had to say: “Located just 7 miles from Palm Springs, Cathedral City is home to the Annual Cathedral City Hot Air Balloon Festival & Food Truck Fiesta, presented by Agua Caliente Casinos. Though the festival is newer than others at less than 10 years old, the 2021 iteration of this spectacle saw thousands of attendees and nearly 30 hot air balloons in mid-November. This year, spectators can look forward to gourmet food trucks, tethered rides, night glows, music performances, family-friendly activities and more. Accommodation options include Agua Caliente Resort Casino Spa Rancho Mirage and The Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa. Address: 68526 Avenida Lalo Guerrero, Cathedral City, CA 92234
This year, the Cathedral City Hot Air Balloon Festival and Food Truck Fiesta will take place from Nov. 18th through Nov. 20th.
Cathedral City grabbed the national spotlight earlier this year when it was the only Coachella Valley city to make 2022’s top 50 safest cities list, according to SafeWise. After analyzing the latest violent and property crime data from the FBI, SafeWise in March released its 8th annual “50 Safest Cities in California for 2022” report.
