3-Vehicle Crash Closes Intersection at 20th Avenue and Indian Canyon Drive Both Directions for Several Hours
PALM SPRINGS — One person is dead, and four others injured following a three-car collision on Indian Canyon Drive just north of Interstate 10 early Wednesday afternoon, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.
The fatal collision happened occurred shortly after noon at the intersection of Indian Canyon Drive and 20th Avenue, the department said in a news release. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, while the remaining three occupants of the same car were transported to a local hospital with significant injuries.
“Initial findings indicate one vehicle, traveling southbound on Indian Canyon Drive at a high rate of speed, collided with two other vehicles, as they slowed at the intersection,” the police department wrote in a social media post later Wednesday afternoon. “The driver of that vehicle also sustained injuries and was transported for medical treatment.”
The intersection at 20th Avenue and Indian Canyon Drive was closed in both directions for several hours, with police reopening the road around 6 p.m. Wednesday.
